You Are Not Alone

by | Jan 1, 2025 | Bible Study, Christian Living

Often, when we are going through difficult times, the thought that we are not going through it alone fills us with hope and, at times, confidence. For example, when I was in college, I knew that I didn’t have to study and figure out course materials alone (which was difficult to begin with); I had classmates to share that with. I formed a study group with a few friends, and we faced the challenge of college studies together.

Life can sometimes feel like a battlefield, filled with uncertainties and circumstances that weigh heavily on our hearts. Our problems sometimes make us feel isolated and as if there is no hope or better life out there for us. Let me assure you, friend, you are not alone.

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

God has a plan designed for each of us, and while some face harder challenges than others, the bible tells us that God will not allow more to come to us than we can bear (See 1Cor 10:13). This means that you have been equipped with everything you need to face the challenges life throws your way.

Since you took your first breath, God has ordained your steps. He has been with you every step of the way, and while, at times, you may feel alone, you have never been alone. God has always been with you. My theme for this year is “I am not alone,” a reminder of God’s constant presence in my life and yours.

God does not promise us a world free of challenges, but He does promise to lead us to victory (See John 16:33). He promises to lead us till we fulfill His will for our lives. You are not alone.

When God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world, it was an act of love. Jesus came to the world in human form and taught us about God’s unconditional love for us. Being in human form also meant that Jesus shared our suffering. He experienced hatred, rejection, and pain, yet through it all, He entrusted Himself to God, His father, and in the end, He gained victory over the devil. Jesus’ victory has given you and me salvation.

Jesus feels our pain and suffering. He is our companion in suffering. He experienced it.

“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testing we do, yet he did not sin.   So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:15-16

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

My encouragement for you as you journey through life is that you are not alone. Jesus is with you every step of the way. As He says in Matthew 11:28 – 30, go before Him with your burdens. You don’t have to face it all alone. Although God doesn’t allow us to face more than we can handle, the load sometimes feels heavier when we try to do it all alone.

This year, decide to allow God in every area of your life. Make prayer your faith tool and study God’s word to discover His truth. No matter what you face, always declare, “I am not alone; God is with me.”
